La Panineria Sydney CBD

La Panineria Brings Crunchy Tuscan Sandwiches, Roman Pizza by the Slice, and Pistachio Lobster Tails to the CBD

A tiny new Italian paninoteca is opening in Sydney’s CBD, slinging three-day-fermented schiacciata loaded with mortadella and mozzarella, pizza by the slice, and flaky pastries stuffed with pistachio cream.

Opening in Curtin Place later this month, La Panineria comes from the family-run team behind inner-city trattoria Tessuto (known for its viral pistachio espresso, picciriddu), and is set to become Sydney’s go-to for schiacciata – Tuscany’s lesser-known but arguably more delicious answer to focaccia. The 30-square-metre laneway sandwich bar will be open Monday to Friday, 6am to 4pm, serving espresso, breakfast panini, Roman-style pizza al taglio, and signature sweets.

Quick Bites

EAT: Get the La Classica – prosciutto, stracciatella, tomato jam and rocket in golden schiacciata. Try the meatball melt (Polpette) or grab a slice of ‘nduja and ricotta pizza. Don’t skip the pistachio-stuffed lobster tail – it’s flaky, creamy, and wildly addictive.
DRINK: Pair your panino with a perfectly pulled espresso or the house pistachio latte.
PLAY: Grab your panino to go and wander through the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens
VIBE CHECK: Laneway Italian with big flavour and even bigger heart – part family legacy, part lunchtime game-changer.
