Sydney’s dining scene has a new leading character.
Opening this Friday 27th February, The James is a confident, high-style take on British dining, brought to life by SRG Hospitality. Taking over a prime corner at Kent Street in Millers Point. Think tableside theatrics, polished service and a space designed to feel transportive, not stuffy.
At the helm is head chef Sam Tuchband, whose menu pays homage to Britain’s most iconic dishes through classical French technique and exceptional produce. Some plates lean into tradition, others offer playful reinterpretation, but all are designed for return visits. The room itself is part of the experience: layered, whimsical and quietly luxurious, it nods to grand English dining rooms and hotel lounges, with subtle references to places like The Langham and artistic flourishes inspired by Luke Edward Hall. It’s escapism, delivered generously, right in the heart of Sydney.
