Pizza'Mare Barangaroo, proper Neapolitan pizza with the best harbour views in Sydney upstairs from a'Mare
Pizza'Mare Barangaroo is the first pizzeria from Alessandro and Anna Pavoni, the team behind two-hatted a'Mare, sitting above the original dining room at Crown Sydney with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour. Neapolitan-style pizzas, handmade pasta and antipasti, done properly.
Pizzaiolo Paolo Lacarpia, who grew up learning traditional baking in Bari, makes the dough using a pre-fermented biga method for a light, airy crust fired in a specialty MAM oven imported from Modena. The a'Marinara is the one to order: yellowfin tuna crudo, confit cherry tomatoes, stracciatella and lemon zest, with optional caviar for extra indulgence. Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe anchors the pasta side of the menu alongside classic antipasti. The bright, playful Luchetti Krelle-designed space hums with energy, the harbour stretching out beyond the windows and the lively atmosphere of a'Mare downstairs beneath it. Few pizzerias in Sydney offer food of this quality in a setting quite like this one.
