Volta Cronulla, Sydney's first ouzeri lands next door to Homer

Volta Cronulla is a 60-seat wine bar and ouzeri opening in October from Harry and Mario Kapoulas, the brothers behind Sydney institution Homer Rogue Taverna. Set in the laneway next to Homer, it brings more than 20 ouzo varietals to Sydney for the first time alongside a curated by-the-glass wine list from Greece and beyond.

Volta means "to go out" in Greek, and that is exactly the energy the Kapoulas brothers are building. Walk-in only, designed for casual drinks and unplanned afternoons that run long. The space carries the same industrial, raw feel as Homer next door, layered with textured rugs and mid-century leather chairs for warmth, a communal dining table running down the centre and an outdoor space filled with crates that channels Athens' side streets. Ouzo will pour freely from the open-plan custom bar, and the brothers are positioning it as Sydney's answer to the Greek aperitivo hour. It bridges the gap between their existing venues, HAM cafe and Homer, and gives diners somewhere to land before or after a Homer booking.
